I have some exciting news to share! This fall, I am starting a PhD in Urban Studies at Western University. My research will focus on Mobility Justice under the co-supervision of Dr. Jason Gilliland and Dr. Roza Tchoukaleyska.

My intention for this blog post is twofold. First, to inform you that I will be posting more regularly so you can check back often or subscribe to the blog. Second, to invite you to join the conversation. Feel free to suggest topics, recommend readings, brainstorm ideas, ask questions, propose projects, or engage in dialogue.
In the past, my blog posting schedule has been inconsistent. Now, with the PhD, I need to take a deep dive into the literature and sharpen my writing skills. To help accomplish these objectives, I plan to write more frequently and regularly on my blog. My goal is to have a weekly post on a topic related to Mobility Justice.
Mobility Justice Topics
These posts will include:
- Sharing and commenting on resources such as books, reports, podcasts, or videos. For example, the webinar “Just Sustainabilities” by Dr. Julian Agyeman.
- Nerdier articles discussing more high level ideas, like “The Shift to the Middle in Urban Planning.”
- Questioning the business as usual, or I should say “traffic as usual,” as in the article “There is a Path, We Just Need to See It,” which critiques car-centric urban signage.
- Reflecting on past experiences, like “Black Lives Matter Part 1 and Part 2,” about my work with Haitian refugees.
- Fun and adventure stories, such as “The London Freedom Convoy,” detailing our 90km bike trip from London to Port Stanley and back.
- Thought-provoking ideas, like “Have You Ever Experienced Road Happiness?”
- Sharing my publications, like the scientific article “Bike-to-Work Day as a Multipurpose Tool.”
- Inspirations for reimagining cities, such as “Shift Happens! – A Community Story” telling the story of a citizen-led and built Pocket Park.”
- And other emerging related themes.
All those examples are past articles. Obviously, I will be sharing about more recent publications and new initiatives (See an evolving list* of readings at the end of this blog).
In the upcoming weeks, my initial posts will talk about a systematic review on Mobility Inequality, my most recent project, and transport subsidies.

Join the conversation
My hope is to use this space to have a holistic discussion, weaving Mobility Justice with other critical urban issues as well, including housing, climate change, public health, governance, food security, mental health, music&arts and more. If placekeeping and making cities where we can all thrive is something that piques your interest, I’d love to hear from you.
- Is there a particular topic you would like to hear more about?
- Do you have some resources to recommend or share?
- Would you like to meet one-on-one to explore an idea or theme?
- Or would you be more interested in something like a regular meetup? Or maybe a more formal community gathering?
- Do you see Mobility Justice connected to other urban issues that you care about? Which ones?
- Which resources, from the list below, would you like to learn more?
I have always been drawn to working with/in the community. As I embark on a PhD, co-creating and mobilizing knowledge from day one feels just right. Stay tuned and join the conversation with us!
Learning Journeys
I will be reusing many of the practices that I developed during my recent PhT project. Including CEPP+N (Content, Experiences, Prompts, People+Networks) that I adapted from Alex Bretas. As well as resources and tools that I developed myself including: Inside Out; Question Board; Urban Literacy Conceptual Framework; and mixed/alternative ways to mobilize knowledge.
